Basket of Yarn in the St. Margaret’s Bay region of Nova Scotia, Canada has an enticing selection of yarns, needles, patterns and books for knitting. In our cozy, inviting atmosphere you can enjoy browsing for a new project, or perhaps join one of our classes or workshops.
Owned and operated by Susan Doyle, Basket of Yarn was opened in June 2007. Susan has over 30 years of knitting experience and was first introduced to the art by her Mother and Grandmother at the age of eight. She didn’t pick up knitting again till her mid-twenties where her first self-taught project (a Cottage Craft sweater) re-kindled her interest in knitting. She continued knitting recreationally for several years before taking a position in a yarn shop just for fun. Her experiences working in knitting shops were so enjoyable that she ended up managing one full time. After spending several years learning the business end of the industry, when the opportunity presented itself to start her own shop in St. Margaret’s Bay, Susan jumped at it and Basket of Yarn was born.
